With the BET Awards 2021 fast approaching, organizers have trumpeted exciting news.
Taraji P. Henson will be hosting the ceremony and Queen Latifah will be taking home the night’s top honor – the Lifetime Achievement Award.

In a statement, it was confirmed that Henson will be presiding over the June 27 spectacle for the first time.
On being enlisted for the show (the theme of which is ‘Year of the Black Woman)’, the actress said:
“For more than 20 years, the BET Awards have been a celebration of Black creativity, art and excellence. Returning live, this year’s show will be unlike anything we have ever seen before, and I am honored to be sharing the stage with so many powerful and prolific women in music and entertainment. The BET Awards will once again be at the forefront of Black culture.”
The multihyphenate Latifah is being saluted for her trailblazing career – which has encompassed music as a pioneering femcee, films such as ‘Set It Off’ and ‘Bringing Down The House’, and TV shows like her latest hit ‘The Equalizer.’
Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET said in a statement:
“Black women have been essential drivers of change throughout history, from the political sphere to the cultural zeitgeist. The BET AWARDS is the ultimate celebration of Black culture, and we are looking forward to spotlighting and celebrating Black women during this year’s show, recognizing them for everything they’ve accomplished and applauding them for what’s to come.”
The BET Awards 2021 will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and will feature a live audience. As reported, Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby lead the nominations.
Queen Latifa is def worthy of this Honor. Cant think of One even remotely Negative thing to say about Queen Latifa. Such a Full Multi Layered Career & always Relavant without even trying. Pretty much the Female Dwayne Johnson in a sense. Dwayne Johnson is long overdue for a BET Lifetime Achievement Award
I want to see more of Queen.
Her movie career took of so quickly before she could establish herself as a female rapper in the industry.
She transitioned too quickly
people especially the younger generation dont even know she use to be a rapper
